Cancer

I’ve gone back and forth in terms of whether I should discuss this here, but in the spirit of openness I decided to share publicly.

I was recently diagnosed with nonseminomatous testicular cancer. I had surgery two weeks ago to remove the tumor, but I need additional treatment as it has spread to my retroperitoneal lymph nodes. I am meeting with an oncologist later this week and will be starting chemotherapy treatments next week.

The good news is that this is a highly curable cancer and I literally have some of the best doctors in the country – I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Scherr and the staff at Weill-Cornell, and my oncologist is an internationally-recognized leader in this area.

I’m still not sure how much I will write about my health here going forward. I’ve always tried to steer clear of personal issues and definitely don’t want to alienate my audience – but at the same time, this is obviously going to be on my mind a lot over the next few months.

I will continue to work on Notches, though I will likely work from home more often and not attend as many events.

Oh, and I am not normally one for hats, but I think I will be on the hunt for them shortly. If you have any cool ones with your company logo on them or something, I will gladly take them off your hands.
