Well, I was away for the official Origami / UMPC launch and the ensuing coverage, but I thought it was worth summarizing and posting a collection of links I found interesting.
After all the wait, we finally know that Origami is in fact a reference device / platform, to be known henceforth as UMPC. (I think I liked Origami better!). These devices will run Windows XP Tablet OS, have a 7" or smaller touch screen with a resolution of at least, weigh around 2 pounds, and include WiFi and Bluetooth.
Actual devices from Samsung, ASUS, and Founder were shown at CEBIT. Cost for the first generation is expected to be $599-999 and battery life a disappointing 3 hours. Some are running Intel chipsets and some using VIA7, all in the 1GHz range. The Samsung device has GPS.
