The buzz is deafening over the Origami Project. It's still all speculation, but Scoble also has confimed that it is indeed a device. Judging from an unearthed video this very well may be the mobile lifestyle PC touted previously.
The video shows it being used as a PDA, gaming device, and mobile photo hub. If the specs are decent and the price point is anywhere near the $500 figure previously tossed around, this could be an intruiging device for a lot of people.
Some have speculated that this is running Windows Mobile 5 / CE, but the screen above looks like it might be running a full-blown XP window. It could be very interesting if this thing has a hard drive and runs XP Tablet Edition.
Another device that has caught my eye is the Acer MP-500 - a 3.5-inch screen, 20-40 GB hard drive and very sleek look. I didn't know Acer made media players, but they do have a number of Windows Mobile handhelds. It's scheduled for release in Europe next month - and if it's out while I'm over there I may just pick it up.
Wild speculation: If the Origami Project is just a reference design, could the MP-500 be a real Origami device?
Update: Some more news today from Scoble: according to Seattle PI, the video is very old and reflects an original concept, and the product will not be released on March 2nd. It appears that this is in fact a reference design, not a real product.
