Yahoo! Desktop Search, based on X1, has been released. I will give this one a shot to see how it stacks up to my current MSN choice. I suspect they won't have the shortcuts which is why I'm primarily still using MSN over Copernic.
This also marks the first time that the X1 product is available for free. In evaluating in the past, I always looked at X1 with a little more scrutiny because of the cost involved. If I was going to pay for it, it had to offer something to justify that cost as compared to the free versions - which I didn't feel was the case.
I also noticed a link for X1 Enterprise Search - I'm not sure if this is a new product or not, but it looks like it will address a major concern I had with all these products in terms of playing nice. X1 WGE gives you a central index server for shared items + your own personal e-mail and adds a web interface for searching. (That is something I could justify paying for!)
Interestingly, the old version of Pest Patrol I have installed flags Y!DS as a pest because of UPX. Microsoft AntiSpyware and Spybot both don't report this. (Also, it seems my previous comments were implying that I thought UPX was spyware. I wasn't - rather, I was just commenting on the fact that Pest Patrol complained when installed Y!DS. As Ramon points out in comments, this is just a executable compressor. Presumably Pest Patrol flags this because, as you would expect, it is useful for trojans and spyware and the like.)
