One of the most unbelievable (depressing?) things I read was that, according to experts, a rather significant percentage of the estimated 120,000 deaths could have been avoided with an early warning system.
Sounds ridiculous, right? But yet, there are no dead animals. Not to mention the reports of a circus elephant saving children.
