GMail Drive

Speaking of cool, this is very cool too.

Paschal: “Bjarke has developed some tools to create a virtual file system on top of your Gmail account.“

GMail Drive is a Shell Namespace Extension that creates a virtual filesystem around your Google GMail account, allowing you to use GMail as a storage medium.

This is a perfect example of thinking outside the box, plugging different technologies together to make something very useful. I'm going to see if I can use offline synchronization or something similar with this to keep files synchronized across machines. I originally was working on a web services-based solution for this, but I doubt I will have time to ever finish it.

Here's an updated link to download it. I just installed it and I'm going to put my g-mail account to the test.
