Tonight's NYC Geek Dinner

While I didn't get to the dinner tonight, I did manage to catch up with them for the official after-party. Among those in it for the long haul were Scoble, Corey, Ian, and Tristan.

Tristan works for a (different) major financial services firm, and... well, if I told you more stories, he'd have to kill you. I can tell you that he once outdrank his employees to earn their undying respect. Sounds like a place I want to work - in fact, sounds like I might do very well for myself there.

I also met at least one Benjamin (I think) and a Monica (women at geek dinners stand out). Monica had one, maybe two guys in tow - unfortunately, their names escape me right now.

In missing the dinner, I missed a lot of folks who didn't join us afterwards - among them Greg Reinacker (author of NewsGator) and Martin Schwimmer (who hopefully could have told me all I needed to know about being a geek lawyer)... oh well, maybe next time.

As you would expect, mixing geeks and a lot of beer (and a few Black Russians) can lead to some very interesting conversations. If I could only remember them all....

Oh - and Scoble also has a rogue business card. I have to tell you, it's pretty bad ass. So much so that I suddenly feel inadequate - and compelled to make to make my own bad ass cards. Sadly, I think I'm not yet worthy. Some day, some day....
