I've been searching for the right words to express what I've been feeling, but unfortunately they're escaping me right now. I worked across the street at the time, and I continue to live and work just blocks from the site today.
I considered it the greatest birthday gift possible when I woke up the following day and realized none of my friends and family, including those in the Police and Fire departments, had been taken from us.
