Saw the VSLive! keynote this morning. A lot of marketing, of course, but a few useful takeaways and things I didn't already know.
- VSIP expanded: the Visual Studio SDK is available for free through the Affiliate program. Details here.
- CLR Stored Procedures: IBM's DB2 already supports CLR / C# stored procedures
- Edit and continue: VB.NET-specific feature, though, or for all CLR languages??
- Partial class types: class definitions can span multiple files
- Code Snippets: cool! Can be sourced from local or remote repositories. Reminded me of the snippets feature I used a lot back in the day in Homesite, but a little beefed up
- Whidbey: it's cool, I want bits :)
I'm sure there were a few more, but I forgot a pen, my tablet, and my pocket pc and had no way to record information other than my brain. I'll update this as / if I remember them.
Reminder: for those of you in the area, come to tonights NYC .NET Developer's session tonight at 7pm, followed by Midnight Madness at 8pm (hmmm....). Rob, Don, Sam, myself, Josh, Mike, and others will be there, and we're planning on getting dinner/drinks afterwards. Should be a nice turnout.
