In case anyone was wondering, I haven't posted in awhile because I was away on vacation. I was out of the office for a whole six days (two of which were spent driving), the longest contiguous block since I started in the summer of 2001.
Wow, that's sad. I need to start using those carry-over days. My longest vacation was spent driving to visit my girlfriend's parents in Pittsburgh.
I'd also like to welcome a colleague and good friend of mine, Faisal, who (finally!) got around to making his first post. Anyone who tells you peer pressure works well doesn't know Faisal :)
All that time in the car have given me some time to think, though, so I feel a barrage of posts coming as soon as I get my act together and get unpacked. Coincidentally, I've had a few conversations in the past week about Microsoft's technical innovation in general and specifically .NET's relationship to Java. I've been thinking a bit about it, and I have a few thoughts tangentially related also to Faisal's post and Don's response.
