Thom lost his job twelve days ago, and he just lamented about the search process thus far.
Thom, all I can say is keep you head up. I'm pretty young, but I've worked in the financial industry for a few years, so I've gotten to know instability, especially these days.
I've been fortunate so far, but we've definitely been hit hard and a lot of very close friends have lost their jobs. Persitence is key. It may take some time in a market like this, but most of those colleagues have since moved on to new positions. For some it took a few weeks, for others it took a little bit longer - but for the most part, they're all happier for it.
It can be discouraging, I know - I've seen them go through it - but these things usually have a way of working themselves out if you give it time.
Think of it as an opportunity.... and good luck!
