On second thought...

Looks like I'm not going to make it to the NYC .NET Developers Group meeting tonight after all.

The topic seems like it could be interesting though - discussing the possibilities of .NET on non-Windows platforms and specific implementations like Rotor and Mono. If anyone attends, let me know how it is.

For a long time I wondered why Microsoft didn't push these other platforms more, helping out efforts like Mono, since it would all but steal Java's thunder.... and then they released Rotor.  I guess I wasn't the only one wondering about it :)

I'll definitely be attending next month's meeting on smart clients in .NET though. It's been discussed in depth by others, and despite what I said in the past, I still think it adds a lot of value - especially if and when .NET is readily available on all clients, Windows or not.

I'm very interested to hear what Chris has to say on the subject.
