Walkin' in a Winter Wonderland...

I live in Lower Manhattan, which conveniently is just a 5 minute walk from work. Apparently there was a major water main break right down the block from me, and as a result my water has been brown for the past twelve hours. Actually, by this morning it was a lot better and only had a tannish tinge to it, but I'm not taking any chances.

Last night I ran out and picked up 4 gallons of water, which was fine for brushing teeth and whatnot, but showering with no running water is not an easy task (especially for me). I called my fitness center and luckily they had clean water. The gym is just over three-quarters of a mile from my apartment, and my office is somewhere in between. In hindsight, by the time I trekked through the muddy slush-snow that adorned the city streets (which, as luck would have it, was particularly messier between the office and the gym), I probably would have been better off just going to the office without showering.

But I do like snow - I went to school in Central New York for four years, after all. At least I'm getting to take advantage of it this time - I'm going up to ski at Belleayre Mountain tomorrow. I'm excited - I haven't been skiing in probably five years. I've never been to this mountain, but I've heard it's less crowded than some of the other local slopes. I just hope I don't break myself or someone else tomorrow :)

Oh - and Scott rocks, because we now have different color backgrounds for selectable days in the CandidBlue calendar.
